$1 VPN a Month — Is This a Bad Idea?

This is not an ad. I’m just the kinda person who buys a VPN and then writes a medium story explaining my experience.

TLDR

The VPN works. It’s called RayaVPN and for 2 weeks I’ve been using it to access Medium. Yes, this site is the reason I needed a VPN. For reasons I don’t understand, Medium is blocked in Vietnam.

For 12 months I’ve resorted to using Tor inside Brave to get around the mild internet censorship. Tor is a free solution, but I hate needing to prove I’m not a robot. It was time to get a VPN. Like anyone would I searched:

  • NordVPN- $11.95 a month.
  • HideMyAss — $4 for a month — 12-month plan.

Wait a minute:

The 4th Result is RayaVPN — It Really Costs $1

$1 how good’s it?

Pros

  • It’s a $1
  • There’s 1 US server
  • It’s useable

Cons

  • The UK server is in Tehran
Bet it’s nice and the media is lying to us.
  • There’s no GUI- Instead, you do one of these ones.
  • I don’t know if it’s safe.

There’s a chance that all my details have been stolen and sold on the internet. I don’t have the technical know-how to find out if this VPN is safe. I could learn, but celebs aye. Bad things happen to other people.

Here’s How To Get A VPN For $1

Google and click this super dodgy link or click any of these words that are underlined to go straight to the RayaVPN home page.

Okay, I know you’re expecting the rest to be easy, but don’t close this article yet.

Open your Emails

They sent you a username and password. I thought I was scammed for ages until I thought to check my emails. If you’re actually following along, you know what I mean.

Open this in another tab.

Select your operating system.

Select how you want to connect. I recommend PPTP if you’re on Windows 10, because it’s really easy.

The process for setting up a PPTP connection on Windows never changes here’s what you do.

Search VPN in the start menu or your settings.

Click add a VPN connection.

Call the connection whatever you want.

Change the VPN type to PPTP

change the VPN type to PPTP

Enter the user name and password.

Now you need an address for your server. That was a link sent to your emails too.

It looks like this.

Enter one of these and close up your VPN settings.

Seriously, if anyone knows if this is going to steal my data please let me know in the comments below.
